Amy Trowbridge

Associate Professor of Forest Entomology, University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA

Amy earned her PhD in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of Colorado at Boulder. With a background in chemical ecology and plant ecophysiology, her research focuses on the impacts of global change factors on plant chemical defenses and the consequences for insect community dynamics and ecosystem function. She is particularly interested in understanding the mechanisms by which drought increases a forest’s susceptibility to irruptive herbivores to better integrate destructive pests into current mortality frameworks. She is also passionate about teaching, mentoring, and outreach and is involved in a number of efforts that aim to make science education accessible to K-12 students.
