As cities invest in new tree-planting projects, how do we also manage existing urban trees? My work explores applications of satellite-based data to assess urban forest composition and performance. We are specifically interested in using remotely-sensed measurements of forest structure and foliar traits to detect belowground soil processes. With the Twin Cities Urban Long Term Ecological Research program, we are working to coproduce use-inspired research with local governments and city land managers.
