Laura Williams

Postdoctoral Associate, Department of Forest Resources, University of Minnesota, USA

Laura Williams’ research focuses on plant ecology. Specifically, she is interested in plant-plant interactions in the context of global environmental changes, and in understanding how variation in plant function—both among species and within species mediated by neighborhood interactions—shapes community assembly and ecosystem function. Her recent work has examined biodiversity effects on forest ecosystem function, including investigating underlying biological mechanisms and how spectral data may lend insight into patterns and drivers of variation over space and time. She received Bachelor’s degrees in Arts and Science with Honours from Monash University, Australia, and a PhD in Ecology from the University of Minnesota
