Martin Volf

Group Leader, Biology Centre Czech Academia of Science, Institute of Entomology, Czech Republic

Martin specializes inn insect-plant relationships, evolution of plant defensive traits, and chemical ecology. He is interested in the roles that insect-plant coevolution plays in promoting the astonishing chemical diversity in plants. Throughout his projects, he aims to link various approaches for studying the origins and roles of chemical diversity in plants. His research interests range from macroevolutionary studies showing how chemical diversity evolves in response to interactions with natural enemies to studying temporal changes within individual plants that help them to cope with insect herbivores.
